Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using BuildSpot. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use the service.
1. Service Description
BuildSpot is a free, web-based tool designed to help users locate trade and building suppliers across the United Kingdom. The service allows you to search for nearby merchants by category and location, view supplier details, get directions, and save favourites for future reference.
BuildSpot is provided as a convenience tool and does not sell products, act as a broker, or facilitate transactions between users and suppliers. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of the suppliers displayed in search results.
2. No Warranty on Merchant Data
Supplier information displayed in BuildSpot -- including but not limited to business names, addresses, telephone numbers, opening hours, ratings, reviews, and photographs -- is sourced from Google Maps and Google Places APIs. BuildSpot does not independently verify, curate, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of this information.
Supplier data may be inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete. Businesses may have changed their hours, relocated, closed permanently, or updated their contact details since the information was last indexed by Google.
BuildSpot provides this data on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranty of any kind, whether express or implied.
3. User Responsibilities
By using BuildSpot, you agree to the following:
- You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any supplier information before relying on it, including confirming opening hours, stock availability, and contact details directly with the supplier.
- You will not rely on BuildSpot as the sole source of information for time-sensitive, safety-critical, or financially significant decisions.
- You will use the service lawfully and in accordance with these Terms.
- You will not attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the operation of the service.
- You will not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service in a manner that exceeds reasonable personal use.
4. Third-Party Services
BuildSpot relies on the following third-party services to operate. Your use of BuildSpot involves interaction with these services, each of which has its own terms and privacy policies:
4.1 Google Maps and Google Places
Map display, supplier search results, business details, ratings, reviews, photos, and directions are provided through Google's APIs. Your use of these features is subject to the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service and Google Terms of Service. Google may collect data through cookies and other technologies when you interact with map and search features.
4.2 postcodes.io
Postcode-to-coordinate lookups are performed using the postcodes.io API, a free and open-source UK postcode geolocation service. BuildSpot is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of the postcodes.io service.
4.3 Google Fonts
BuildSpot loads typefaces from Google Fonts. This involves your browser making requests to Google's servers when the page loads.
BuildSpot is not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of these third-party services. If any third-party service becomes unavailable or changes its terms, certain features of BuildSpot may be affected.
5. Intellectual Property
The BuildSpot name, branding, visual design, page layout, and original source code are the intellectual property of BuildSpot and its operators. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of the BuildSpot interface or branding without prior written permission.
Supplier data, map tiles, imagery, and other content provided through Google's APIs remain the property of Google and its licensors, subject to Google's terms of service.
The postcodes.io data is provided under the Open Government Licence and remains the property of its respective rights holders.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales:
- BuildSpot and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
- This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- We are not liable for any losses arising from reliance on supplier information displayed through BuildSpot, including but not limited to incorrect addresses, outdated opening hours, inaccurate ratings, or any other information sourced from third-party APIs.
- We are not liable for any interruption, suspension, or termination of the service, whether planned or unplanned.
- We are not liable for the actions, products, services, or conduct of any third-party supplier displayed on BuildSpot.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
7. Availability and Service Changes
BuildSpot is provided free of charge and without any guarantee of availability. We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice.
- Introduce, change, or remove features at our discretion.
- Restrict access to the service for any reason, including suspected misuse or abuse.
We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of any significant changes, but we are not obligated to do so.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use BuildSpot for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms. Without limitation, you shall not:
- Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or networks connected to the service.
- Harvest, scrape, or collect data from the service through automated means for commercial purposes.
- Use the service to transmit any harmful or malicious code.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using the service.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of BuildSpot after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. 11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of BuildSpot shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
